Chikki, delicious traditional snack is a traditional an Indian sweet (brittle) generally made from nuts and jaggery . In northern India, it is also known as gajak or maroonda. Similar dishes are very popular in Brazil , Paraguay and many other countries. It has endless benefits such as :

Equipment

  • wok or pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bowl Cold water

Street style peanut chikki

  • 150 gram Peanuts (spilled & roasted)
  • 150 gram Jaggery
  • 1 tbsp Ghee or unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Water

Departmental store peanut chikki

  • 150 gram Peanuts (spilled & roasted)
  • 150 gram Jaggery
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Ghee or unsalted butter
  • a pinch of Baking powder

Garnishing

  • Fennel seeds
  • Pistachios (grated / chopped)

Instructions
 

Method for street style peanut chikki

  • In pan, add water and jaggery. Melt it properly. Cook on lowest flame. You can check it by pouring simple a drop in bowl of cold water. Check video for more clear view.
  • Add ghee and peanuts and cook for 2 minutes. Switch off the flame.
  • Grease any tray or place with ghee. Pour the batter. Garnish with fennel seeds & pistachios. Rest for 10 minutes and demould it. We are good to serve.

Method for Departmental store peanut chikki

Notes

Some tips & tricks :-
  1. Peanuts need to be roasted & spilled.
  2. Roast jaggery properly. You can use any type of it.
  3. Take cold water in any bowl. Pour a drop in it, touch the drop, if it is stretching then you need to roast more. The drop needs to be crunchy.
  4. You can grease baking tray. sheet. silicones, kitchen slabs, wooden board, etc.
